The sources of China’s recent innovative rise are far from comprehensively analyzed. This project uses insights from studies on industrial policy and the innovation systems literature to better understand these sources. The focus is on public-private collaboration, especially among state actors, research institutes, and firms. The project is jointly organized by the Chair of Chinese Society and Business at Jacobs University Bremen (Prof. Tobias ten Brink) and the Chair of Institutional and Innovation Economics, especially Japan/East Asia, at Goethe University Frankfurt (Prof. Cornelia Storz). This research is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG (German Research Foundation).
